Jim was a founding member of the Battle Ground Community Band, playing tuba and trombone until 2001. Upon Glen's departure, Jim took over as director and continued in that role until 2012, when he died after a long battle with cancer.
Jim was a music educator in the Battle Ground School District for 30 years, having directed the bands at Battle Ground High School, Laurin Middle School, and finally Pleasant Valley Middle School. After his retirement from teaching, Jim became owner of Music World in Battle Ground; in the ensuing 12 years, he greatly expanded the store (moving to its current location) and opened a second location in Hazel Dell.
Glen Hansen
Glen was the founder and first director of the Battle Ground Community Band. He directed the band from its 1993 inception until 2001, when he moved to the coast to pursue other interests.
Prior to starting the Battle Ground Community Band, Glen was a music educator in the Battle Ground School System for 36 years, primarily as band director of Lewisville Middle School; he organized the first youth football league in Battle Ground; and he coached baseball in Battle Ground for 18 years.
